Soooooo .. the bad news.
The MEV chassis was ordered powdercoated from factory, here is how it looks after two days under the rain then two days under the sun :

So for those who thought the Exocet was a good idea to get rid of the endemic chassis rust of the Miata, well here it is.
My suggestion is to get the chassis without any powdercoating or anything, and do it locally with a serious rust protection, otherwise this is what you could get too.
Plus if I'm honest the welding on some parts is of pretty low quality so some touch-up work is needed there too, which means paint touch-up work afterwards too.
Anyway, on to sandblasting, some before/after pics :
And that's it for today, after this kind of surprise needless to say that motivation was below zero.
The guy I'm doing this build with was pretty optimistic, he said well if those are the only parts which rusted you know the rest of the chassis was correctly done.
I guess that's one way to look at it, but that's not the way I see it though.
